A Bird in Hand

Sings a lot quieter than a dozen in the bush.

I'm Alive

Sorry no posts lately, I'm working weird schedules because of people out sick, on maternity, etc. But I have this morning off, it's gorgeous and I'm going for a walk, so hopefully I will find some good pics to snap. I also have a fun video from a couple weeks ago I have to get on. So, stay tuned for more.

Weekend's Almost Here

Hello all, well it's almost time for the weekend - should be a fun one with St. Patty's Day and all. I'm planning to come downtown for the big parade - never been to this one so it should be fun. It's been a fairly routine week. Went to watch Idol Tuesday at the Saloon. It was fun, ran into a bunch of people I'd met. Wow, it's great to go out and have people to talk to and hang out with. I was kind of overwhelmed for a few minutes because it's been awhile since I've had a posse! My faves in Idol are Lakisha, Melinda,
Chris (those eyes, that man-stubble - yum)

and the beat-box boy Blake (you kind of just want to put him in a curio cabinet and look at him)

The boys basically make it on the cute factor - voice-wise there are at least 2 or 3 more girls who I think are better, but we have to have some man-candy, am I right?

Warm Weekend

It's been a great weekend here, yesterday was particularly sunny and nice. Today, warm, but it's clouded up. So, I've been walking a ton and taking some pictures. Here Goes:

This is Loring Park in Downtown Minneapolis. You can see the Basilica in the background:

Closeup of the Basilica. From there I went to the Walker Art Museum's Sculpture Garden:

This is one of the more famous statues, you might have seen it online. The scultptures weren't the only things I was checking out:

Mmmm-hmmm. Seeing everyone was taking pics, I went in for the closeup:

Cute! Next, I went to a conservatory.

This very cool sculpture was done by Frank Gehry. There were also some very pretty flowers, and you know that I love me some flowers!

Well, that's all for now. I went out last night, drank way too much and made out with a totally hot guy! Now, I'm trying to talk myself into going home and reading the Sunday paper instead of going to Bolt for beer bust! Hope you all had a great weekend!

Weekend Update

OK, here's the weekend update - the ex arrived Saturday night, I took the light rail to the airport to meet him. It was a very nice ride, so we decided to take it back instead of cabbing it all the way back - saved about 20 bucks, extra cocktail money. We went and had a little dinner at an asian restaurant in Uptown - it was very good. I walk right by it on my way home, so I'll definitely be getting takeout in the future. Then we hit the town. Started at Brass Rail, which was quiet, then we went to the 90s to see the queens. The ex was amazed at how hot the girls are here. In Portland, even the prettiest are kinda blah. Then, we went to the Saloon where it was *jumping* - he was blown away. So much more fun than even the busiest night in Portland. The next day it was time to go to the Guthrie Theater.

It is an amazing theater, absoultely gorgeous in design, and it felt like you were right next to the stage, we had great seats for The Glass Managerie, and Randy Harrison, from Queer as Folk, was adorable in his role as the son. He looked so shiny and perfect I wanted to take a bite. Although, I must say, Harriet Harris, who's played in Desperate Housewives and Fraiser stole the show. She was great. Here's a view of the Mississippi River from the theater:

After the theater, we had a late lunch, early dinner, then went to Bolt for the afternoon. Well, that turned into many hours, as we had a great time singing and carrying on with the rest of the crowd for the movie and musical and television clips they show on Sundays. It was a blast! Then, made a quick stop into the 90s and the Rail. We met a ton of people and had so much fun. He now totally understands why I thought the bars in Portland are so dullsville.

Monday was touristy day, walked through the skyway downtown and ran into this elephant at Mall of America. Almost forgot, had an incredible meal at Figlio's in Uptown - would highly recommend it to any visitors. We also had a couple of good talks while he was here about our relationship, both decided it's best if we're just friends and I told him about the blog, although I said I didn't want him to read it, because then I would have to edit my feelings that I like to share about how we're dealing with everything. He understands it's nothing bad, just personal. Anyway, a good time was had by all, he can't wait to come back and it was fun having someone to show around.

One last pic of the Guthrie. Did I mention there are two total hotties sitting across from me at the coffee shop. Very distracting. Well, time for work, hope you're all having a good week!

Me and Mary

Had a great weekend! Don't have time to post about it now, so here's a pic of me and Mary Tyler Moore - I always bump into the celebs when I'm out and about. Hope all is good in your worlds! More soon!

It's Finally Stopped!

Well, the snow has finally stopped, and it's nice and sunny today. A little cold, but it's supposed to get warmer tomorrow. So, I finally have a chance to sit in my cute little coffee shop and post some pictures.

This was Wednesday night in Downtown Minneapolis, hadn't really started yet - this is a view from in front of Orchestra Hall.

It starts! This is how it was coming down in front of the Orpheum theater after I left the Saloon. It was a very thick, slushy snow.

Some cool bushes near my house were coated. So, the next morning I get up and this is what I see:

The poor trees were bending to the ground from the weight of the show. This was pre-shoveling. And, here's post-shoveling:

Yikes! And, a couple of shots from the neighborhood on Friday morning:

But, as Annie says, the sun will come out tomorrow. Actually, today-

The ex flies in tonight at 7, can't wait to show him around the city. I'm sure I'll be well cocktailed for the next few days, so you all have a good weekend!

Week that Rhymes with Swell!

I've rarely been so happy to see Friday! Just after recovering from one foot of snow, we've gotten a second one. I was not happy with how my show turned out last night so that was a major bummer. I don't think it was bad, just not what I wanted. Anyway, I'm getting ready for the arrival of my ex. Hopefully his flight won't be delayed - he's coming tomorrow. We're going to see the Glass Managerie at the Guthrie Sunday. It's starring cute little Randy Harrison, you know the hot blond kid from Queer as Folk.
OK, next post will have the latest snow pics!

Winter Blast

Remember this nice picture, well here's the after shot:

Yep, we got hit with a real midwest snowstorm. We've had at least a foot this weekend - I think it's actually probably closer to 14 or 16 inches. I ended up having to work Saturday morning. I typed in the crawl that runs on the bottom of the screen and helped with our morning show. So, more overtime. Then, I went to the Saloon and drank a bunch of screwdrivers! And, kissed the bartender. Twice. Here's what it looked like after I left work Saturday around noon:

Not bad, right. Well, here are a couple more shots from my neighborhood today:

The thing I really dislike about snow is driving in it, and seeing my car is still in Oregon, I don't have to worry about that! So, I've just been treking around, helped push out two people who got their cars stuck, so I've even done my good deeds for the day. Now, I'm just enjoying some coffee and waiting for the Oscars. I really want to go downtown and toss a couple back, but I'm trying to behave myself seeing I have to go back to work tomorrow. Oh, and have I mentioned the ex is coming to visit next weekend? I'm really looking forward to it. He's never been here so it will be fun to show him around. Well, hope you're having a fun weekend. Stay safe. By the way, I'm routing for "Little Miss Sunshine" for best picture. It's the only one of them I've seen this year!

Snowy Saturday

OK, I forgot my camera connector so I'll have to post pics later. We basically just got a couple of inches of slush overnight, now the real snow has started and we're supposed to get 6 to 10 inches. Of course, when I posted yesterday I forgot the fact that I'm working in TV again, so I had to work this morning at 5am - yuck! It wasn't bad tho - I just typed the crawl that people see running on the bottom of the screen and helped with the hour morning show, so I got 7 hours of overtime for a pretty easy amount of work. I did go out for a couple cocktails last night even though I had the early schedule - I just needed it. Now, I think I'll go do a little shopping, then hit a nice watering hole for a couple screwdrivers before I go home to take a nap!
