Fabulous Friday!
Even though I'm not working right now, I'm still happy when Friday comes around. I guess it's just ingrained in you from school days to college days to work days. It's a very blah, gray day here in Portland. It's supposed to get sunny and nice again this weekend. So, in anticipation of the sun coming back, I'll share some pictures with you that I took the a couple of days ago in Washington Park. It's my favorite park, propped up on the West Hills, about a 20 minute walk from where I live.

This is a view of downtown Portland from Washington Park. On really clear days you can see Mt. Hood, Oregon's tallest peak. This day was just a little cloudy so you can't spot the Hood, as I like to call it. You can also see Mt. Saint Helens from Portland.

This is one of my favorite places to hang out and read. The sun always hits the little hill behind the fountain, and the trickling water adds to the natural soundtrack of the park.

Phallic symbol anyone?

This is Sacajawea, the Shoshone Indian princess, who helped guide Lewis and Clark to the Pacific Ocean.

This is the International Rose Test Garden which is part of Washington Park. I loved the beauty of the red rose contrasted with the autumn leaves. Portland is known as the Rose City, and there is a Rose Festival every June. We have the 2nd largest rose parade in the country, Pasadena's famous New Year's parade being the biggest.

This is my favorite picture I took that day. I love the detail of the leaves and the sun bursting through. Well, time for me to get something done. I really should clean the condo, but I'll probably head out for a walk instead. Portland just opened a new stretch of line for it's light rail so I think I'll take a ride down to the waterfront. Have a great weekend - I'm hoping to go out tonight, so look for some pictures and details about Portland's nightlife tomorrow!
