Well, it was an interesting election night. I had the tv on and was furiously surfing various sites, keeping track of the national election and keeping tabs on what was happening back home in Wisconsin. Unfortuantely, the gay marriage amendment there was passed 59 to 41 percent. That really makes me sad. I would imagine a lot of people out there would think the midwest would be very closed-minded, but people in my home state are very accepting and I really thought it had a good chance of being defeated. It was good to see the democratic sweep, and I wasn't sad today to see the President announce the departure of Donald Rumsfeld. But, one part of the press conference really bugged me. The President said when he spoke to Nancy Pelosi, who is expected to be the first woman ever to hold the office of Speaker of the House, he suggested an interior designer to put new curtains in her office. What a sexist comment. If it was some incoming old, white, fat congressman from hicksville I wonder if the President would have passed along design tips to him, too.
