Monsoon Monday
Happy Monday everyone! The deluge continues here in Portland. The weather guys say our rain is part of a leftover typhoon that hit the Philippines last week and part warm, moist air coming up from Hawaii. Some of them are calling it the "Pineapple Express." Now, I like pinneaple. It's sweet, sunny and tasty. There is nothing sweet and sunny about this weather. The streets are starting to flood, the rivers are rising and they're telling people in landslide-prone areas to leave their homes. They've closed a major highway on the coast due to flooding, and one of the main highways between the coast and Portland is also closed in parts.
I took a walk after the noon news. This is my street, there's pretty much a sheet of water flowing down it.

So far, the downtown streets are holding up pretty well considering all of the leaves in the gutters. There's an awful lot of water rushing into the system.

Besides the rain, the wind is blowing like crazy. The flags on the Paramount Hotel were blowing straight up. Well, that's a glimpse into my world today. We had a great dinner last night. The turkey turned out great, so now I'm going to make a sandwich and do a little job hunting. Hope you all have a great day!
