Social Commentary Sunday

While I was out walking, I started to take a picture of this beautiful church which is in a nice area next to the art and historical museums. I noticed a sign hanging on the wall, and I was curious about what it said. So, I moved in for a closer look.

Obviously, they don't want homeless folks taking advantage of this space which is covered and protected from the elements.


This sign made me very sad. I have no idea what the denomination of this church is. For all I know they may have a soup kitchen and donate tons of money to homeless causes. But, all I know about this church from their sign is that they don't want the homeless loitering about, marring the beauty of their building. It doesn't look quite so beautiful to me anymore. Luckily, I remembered walking by a different church a couple of days ago when it was really stormy. It is not on one of the fancier streets in town, and despite the driving rain and blowing wind their door was open and they were serving food to people who looked like they really needed it. Now that is a beautiful building.
