Dreamgirls

Seeing I didn't go see Dreamgirls on Christmas Day, I decided to go last night. I love a good musical, and this movie was pretty good. But, I wouldn't say great. I'm not a big Jamie Foxx fan, and he has a big role in it. So he bugged me.

As you've all heard, Jennifer Hudson was fantastic. When she sang, "And I am Telling You I'm Not Going" I did want to jump right out of my seat and cheer. The audience did clap for her after that song and one other.

Beyonce is a favorite of mine and I thought she was also pretty darn fantastic. Eddie Murphy was also funny as a James-Brown like singer who wants to sing soul, but keeps being pushed to more main-stream pop. Actor Keith Robinson played a supporting role, but his smile and eyes really knocked my socks off - woot-woo!!!

Overall, I would say go see it. But it's no Moulin Rouge! I've never seen the Broadway version of the show so unfortunatley, I can't give you that comparison. I was glad I saw the movie, I wouldn't go to see it again in the theater, but I will probably buy it when it comes out on DVD.
