Look out Midwest - This boy is goin' home!!! Today I made the decision to accept a job with a television station in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I've never lived there, but I went to college in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, which isn't far away. So, I've spent quite a bit of time in the Twin Cities and I can't wait to be back on home turf. It's been a great experience living on the West Coast, but I am a midwesterner at heart. I will be just about 3 1/2 hours away from my parents (the closest I've lived to them in more than 12 years,) and also close to my best friends in Milwaukee, all of my fantastic friends back in Green Bay and closer to many of my brothers and sisters. The last time I was in Minneapolis for awhile was for Gay Pride Sunday in 2003. TJ and I were taking a tour of Wisconsin and we were eventually planning to go to my parents up by Lake Superior, but we found out it was Twin Cities Pride and got sidetracked. It was funny, because I hadn't been there in about 7 or 8 years, but within a few minutes I ran into people I used to know, and by the end of the day, had a gang of folks to hang out with. I can't wait to go back!!! For all of you who have never visisted the midwest and think people are rednecky - you really should take a trip, especially to Minneapolis or Chicago, and you'll run into a lot of really nice people. When I was there for my interview, I only went out for about 1 1/2 hours, and I talked to a good 20-30 people. And, the work thing will be great. For the first time in my life, I'll be scheduled to work Monday - Friday dayside, so I'll have my evenings and weekends off! And, I have a base salary, but I'll also be paid overtime for the first time ever!!!!! Needless to say, I've been on the phone all afternoon, but first I went to buy a bottle of champagne. Tonight, I'm celebrating, tomorrow I'll start dealing with the realities of moving. They want me there ASAP, so it's going to be a quick move. But, I am so happy knowing I have a job and knowing I will be going somewhere I really love! Hope you all had a great day!!! It's time to party!
