Snowstorm or No Storm?

Last night at 11 the news stations here in Portland were having a total tizzy, predicting snow for metro Portland. This would be news because it rarely snows at our low elevation here in the valley, but as usual, they were wrong and the storm never materialized. The stations were live all over the place looking for flakes this morning, and it did snow/sleet a little then and again in the afternoon, but nothing like the doomsday scenario they were all predicting. It made no sense to me because it was still 42 last night at 11, and even if a cold front moved in, the ground would still be too warm for much to stick. Here, caught through me camera lens, is the result of the big snowstorm of '07:

This poor tree, it must be freezing. Quick, break out the heat lamps!!!

I think this horrible snowstorm was sent to test my fortitude before I return to the midwest. Thank goodness we all survived! Bless the dear Portland media for keeping us so well informed!
