Wild Card Saturday

I should be drinking beer for Wild Card Saturday, but instead I drank a pot of coffee while yapping to my parents on the phone, so now I'm jangling like nuts while I'm typing this! I'm not too interested in the Colts/Chiefs game, but I will be watching the Seahawks/Cowboys much more closely. Being from Green Bay, I have to cheer for Coach Holmgren and QB Hasselbeck.

When I worked in Titletown, my tv station was located at the corner of Holmgren Way and Lombardi Ave. Green Bay is totally insane when it comes to the Packers. I was very lucky because my best friends from back home have season tickets, so between them and working at the tv station I went to quite a few games at Lambeau Field.
There are few experiences that compare to a morning of tailgating followed by a great game inside Lambeau and then post-game partying. Fun, Fun, Fun. Even if you're not a football fan it's still an incredible experience. I got to watch one game against the Lions in a luxury box and one game against Tampa I was in the 2nd row. Faith Hill sang the national anthem at that game and she walked right by me. I yelled, "I love you Faith" and she waved and said, "Hi."

I was good friends with our sports director, so around the time the Pack went back to the Super Bowl we would go out often and run into the players (Santana Dotson and Aaron Taylor among others) in the bars. I also produced a breast cancer special with Adam Timmerman's wife (I believe he is still with the Rams now.) And, when Lambeau Field was renovated they held a referendum for funding so I produced a town hall meeting on the subject. We had to meet with Ron Wolf (former GM of the team) in the Packers headquarters at Lambeau. I can also tell you that Brett Favre used the bathroom in the duplex I was living in while I was sleeping on the couch. What? Yes, that's right. Let me tell you, I was pissed (pun intended) at my roommate for not waking me up. It was after a long night of partying by all involved. So, I have many fond football memories from my days in Green Bay.
